CRICKET ASSOCIATION’S REPORT
“It is with pleasure that we are able to report that the game has been kept going and club officials and members have earned our sincere congratulations in assisting the association in carrying through with the competition,” states the annual report of the Southland Cricket Association which will be presented to the annual meeting of delegates on September 17. “It has been pleasing to see the good number of veteran players talcing part in the- game assisting the younger players and with the many bright displays of one-day cricket an enjoyable season was the result.”
The receipts for the season amounted to £l6l/15/6, which included the contribution from the Southland Amateur Sports Trust (this year the amount was £67/10/-) also an amount of £39/3/- in the way of donations subscribed through the various clubs towards celebrating the jubilee. The season's expenditure was £lO2/13/3, and carried forward from last year was a credit of £4l/1/1, whereas the balance at the close of the season was £lOO/3/4, a gain of £59/2/3.
