DAIRY FACTORY MEETINGS
BOGGY BURN Twenty-three shareholders were present at the annual meeting of the Boggy Bum Co-operative Dairy Factory Company, Ltd., Mr G. Blanks presiding. In reviewing the past season the chairman remarked that the pay-out to suppliers of had improved by a halfpenny a pound butterfat, despite the increased cost of materials, storage and interest. The company had to thank the manager, Mr M. J. Steward, for exercising the strictest economy possible in manufacture. The quality of the output had never been higher and tire fact that local sales of cheese had increased again to over £470 was ample testimony that the Boggy Burn product was highly thought of. T «r The three retiring directors, Messrs J. w. Clarke, H. J. Diack and G. Owens, were declared re-elected for a further term of three years and Mr F. Hamilton was appointed to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Mr Janies Gray. At a later meeting of directors Mr Blanks was re-elected chairman. , , It was decided that no action be taken in the matter of membership of the Dairy Farmers’ Union, individual suppliers to use their own discretion. SEAWOOD DOWNS.— Mr James McKenzie was chairman at the annual meeting of the Seaward Downs Dairy Factory Company Ltd., at which there was a good attendance. It was reported that since the last annual meeting the new factory had been completed at a cost of £17,413. The company now had a factory equipped on modern lines. The pay-out before the annual balance was 1/4.992 per lb butterfat and a bonus of 1.875 d per lb, amounting to £3563/15/6, brought the total for the season to 1/6-867. The retiring directors. Messrs E. McCall and R. Wylie were re-elected. The Dairy Farmers’ Union was discussed, but no action was taken. . OTERAMIKA.— Keen interest in the affairs of the company was displayed at the annual meeting of the Oteramika Dairy Factory Company Ltd. Mr W. J. Wilson, chairman of directors, who presided, said that faking into consideration present-day condition, the result of the year’s operations, was satisfactory. The pay-out was 18.444 d per lb butterfat, together with a dividend of per cent, pn share capital. Messrs James Robbie and A. Sellars, retiring directors, were re-elected unopposed. A motion of sympathy was carried with the relations of Mr John Carlene, who died during the year. Mr W. T. Perriam stated that Mr Carlene was one of the earliest settlers in the district and had been responsible for the formation of the company and the building of the Oteramika factory. He was one of the first directors and probably the last member of the first board. Later in the evening the directors unanimously re-elected Mr W. J. Wilson chairman. APARIMA.— The annual meeting of the Aparima Dairy Factory Company Ltd. was well attended, Mr G. Willis being chairman. The chairman said the company had again experienced a very successful season. The financial position had been much improved. The pay-out for the season had been 1/6 per lb butterfat for first grade milk, which was the same as in the previous year . Messrs S. J. Barron, J. W. Jones and W. B. Hopcroft were elected to fill the three vacancies on the directorate. The Dairy Farmers’ Union was discussed and it was left to Individual suppliers to become members if they wished.
