FORTUNATE ESCAPE
When stepping off the north express at Milton on Sunday night, Alfred R. W. Lang, a soldier, fell between the platform and a carriage and suffered minor injuries which necessitated his removal to the Balclutha Hospital. Lang had the presence of mind to pull his legs clear of the rails, and while he lay on the ground four carriages passed by. He was fortunate enough to escape with only abrasions and shock. leg fractured William Scully, of Pukerau, was admitted to the Gore Public Hospital suffering from a fracture of the leg received when he was kicked by a horse. His condition is reported to be satisfactory.
