SALVAGE EXPEDITION.— An attempt to salvage a reel of cable and a casting from the scow Horouta, which was wrecked in May on Centre Island, was made during the week-end. The cable was salvaged, but no trace was found of the casting. The masts and spars of the vessel were brought back to Bluff. The party, which made the trip to Centre Island in the schooner Britannia, with Mr W. B. Dixon in charge, comprised Captain A. S. Miller, Messrs W. Phillips (diver), P. Ryan, H. Rvan and T. Ryan.
