PARCELS TO PRISONERS OF WAR
(P|A.) WELLINGTON, August 29. The Prisoners of War Inquiry Office in Wellington states that neglect of some next of kin to study the official brochure is likely to hold up the censoring of parcels because very large numbers are coming in with the name and address of the sender not on the Red Cross label. Acknowledgment cards are not enclosed and the duplicated contents slips are either entirely left out or only one has been filled in. A cablegram received from the Red Cross Commissioner in the Middle East announces that personally-addressed parcels from Cairo to New Zealand prisoners of war are now totally prohibited. Acknowledgments of quarterly parcels are now coming in freely and this week alone 280 cards have been received, practically all being from Stalag 88. The office requests next of kin to forward copies only of any letters they may have received from Camp P.G. 58 written in April or at the end of March. . The number of officially notified prisoners is now 6213 and 12 unofficially.
