Mrs E. T. Moller, Dunedin, is the guest of Mr and Mrs L. F. Moller, Duke street. Mrs G. Roy Hanan, Duke street, left last night on a visit to Timaru.

Mrs V. Osmond, North road, leaves today to stay with Mrs J. L. Hazlett at Dipton. Mrs H. R. Kingsland, Spey street, is spending a holiday at the Rocks. Hostesses for Mrs J. K. Clark last week included Mrs Gordon Reed, Mrs John Macalister, and Mrs John Bond.

Miss Sylvie Todd, Janet street, leaves today for Wellington to attend the annual professional photographer’s service. Miss Ella Lindsay, Drummond, and Miss Ngaire McKenzie, Wright’s Bush, are visiting Dunedin.

Mrs V. Osmond. North road, and Mrs G. C. Broughton, Kelvin street, were hostesses on Saturday afternoon for Mrs J. K. Clark, who leaves shortly to live in Westport. Miss Gertrude Macdonald, who has been visiting her parents, Dr and Mrs J. G. Macdonald, Don street, will return to Dunedin today.

Arrangements for a social for grandmothers of New Zealand servicemen overseas have been made by the women’s section of the Gore Returned Services’ Association. The social will be held in the Gore R.S.A. hall tomorrow afternoon.

On Thursday, the Tuatapere branch of the W.D.F.U. celebrated its twelfth birthday at a function in the boxing gymnasium. Mrs Myles Forde, president of the branch, welcomed the visitors. During the afternoon an Interesting display was given of garments knitted from hand-spun wool, tapestry work,- embroidery, and many valuable antiques.

Miss Helen Fleming, who is to be married next month, was entertained at a gift evening at the home of Mrs C. C. Moulin, Wigan street, Gore. The hostesses were Mrs A. L. McKinlay and Misses Ida Rhodes, Agnes and June McMath. Competitions were won by Miss Hilda Smith and Mrs D. G. Williamson. During the evening Miss Agnes McMath asked Miss Fleming to accept many useful gifts from her friends. ENGAGEMENT The engagement is announced of Loma, only daughter of Mrs L. Gordon and the late Mr L. Gordon, 210 Mary street, to Driver Sydney John, second son of Mr and Mrs S. R. Radka, 85 Annan street, Invercargill.
