CARDBOARD BOX AND CARTON CONTROL NOTICE, 1942. THE Factory Controller has issued the above named notice (full* text published in N.Z. Gazette of 27th August, 1942, and in force the next day) directing and notifying WITH RESPECT TO CARDBOARD BOXES AND CARTONS as follows:— After coming into force oi the notice: 1. (a) No person shall employ more than TWO COLOURS OF PRINTING INKS in their production unless he has produced the same kind before that date, (b) Every person producing the same kind of them as he has produced before that date shall as far as possible REDUCE THE NUMBER OF COLOURS OF PRINTING INKS used in their production if a saving of time and material can be made thereby. 2. No person shall manufacture them, and no person who has manufactured them shall SELL OR OTHERWISE DISPOSE OF THEM UNLESS they conform to the following requirements: (a) The top and bottom to be of the same shape and size, and either square, rectangular, oval or circular, (b) To have no projecting edges except in case of powder boxes, (c) If manufactured to hold more than one article the size to be so that there is not more than f inch distance from the nearest part of each article to the nearest edge of box or carton, and from the nearest part of the other article; or if more than one other article then to the nearest part of at least two other articles. PROVIDED that any person who before 28th August, 1942, has manufactured any of them which does not conform to these requirements may use, sell, or otherwise dispose of them before Ist January, 1943. 3. Within seven days after 27th August, 1942, every manufacturer of them W'ho has in his possession or control any boxes or cartons not conforming to the foregoing requirements shall furnish to the Factory Controller full’ written particulars stating the quantity of each type. 4.
