THE WEATHER
(Special) WELLINGTON, August 27. Following is the special weather forecast for Southland, issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington:— Fresh north-easterly winds. The weather cloudy in Eastern Southland with an occasional shower or two, but fine elsewhere; temperatures cold. The weather in Invercargill yesterday morning was overcast with a cold easterly wind, but during the afternoon the sun shone brightly, although the atmosphere remained very chilly. At 1 o’clock this morning the weather was clear, calm and cold. The barometer reading was 29.93 in. (falling). The Tides.—High water, Invercargill, 4.16 a.m.; 4.37 .p.m. Bluff, 3.35 a.m.; 3.56 p.m. Riverton, 2.35 a.m.; 2.56 p.m. Oreti Beach, 2.44 a.m.; 3.05 p.m. The Sim.—Rises 7.27 a.m.; sets, 6.11 p.m.
