MIGHTY BATTLESHIP
(Rec. 8.40 p.m.) NEW YORK, Aug. 26. The mightiest battleship ever b u, 't the 45,000 ton lowa, will be launched ahead of schedule. Five similar vessels are under construction. Although the Navy Department has not revealed the lowa’s specii fications, “Jane’s Fighting Ships” says the lowa class ships carry nine 16-inch guns and 20 five-inch guns. Their speed is unofficially reported as 35 knots.
