Following is the special weather forecast for Southland, issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington:— Moderate to fresh southerly winds. The weather changeable with occasional showers, but improving from the west; .temperatures cold .with widespread sharp frosts. The weather in Invercargill yesterday was showery with a cold south-easterly wind, but during the afternoon the weather cleared. At 1 o’clock this morning the weather was cold and heavily overcast with a light north-westerly wind. The barometer reading was 30.21 in. (rising). The Tides.—High water. CADETS ON AIR STATION Arrangments have been made by the Royal New Zealand Air Force for cadets of the Air Training Corps who can obtain leave from their employment to spend a week on an Air Force station. Nine cadets of the Invercargill Squadron of the A.T.C. are at present at a northern air station, and they will be followed by nine more next week and another nine the following week. The cadets now in camp are: Corporal M. V. Woodsford, Cadets E. D. Foster, D. N. Hilton, J. K. Holloway, A. H. Simpson, I. J. Smith, C. R. Summers, M. W. Tennet and L. E. Varley. ROTARY ASSEMBLY.—A report on the South Island Assembly of Rotary Clubs/ which was held in Timaru last week, was given to the Invercargill Rotary Club yesterday by Dr J. G. Macdonald, president-elect, who was one of the club’s three representatives at the meeting. The other representatives were Mr F. G. Hall-Jones, district governorelect, and Mr G. G. Osborne, acting secretary. Eight clubs were represented at the assembly by 20 delegates. For the most part the conference was concerned with domestic matters, but addresses were given on international affairs, youth work, rehabilitation and other subjects of general interest. Dr Macdonald expressed appreciation of the arrangements made for the delegates and of the services of the president and secretary ol the Timaru Rotary Club.
