ST. ANDREW’S SCOTTISH SOCIETY

A motion that because of war conditions the society should go into recess was defeated by a large majority at the annual meeting of the St. Andrew’s Scottish Society of Southland held in the Tudor Lounge last night. Chieftain W. A. McCaw presided over a good attendance of members. The annual report stated that despite the adverse conditions created by the war. the society had managed to carry on and to fulfil the syllabus drawn up at the beginning of the year. The membership had been well maintained. At the conclusion of the business portion of the meeting items were given by the following: Miss Rita Troon (searm truibhais), Mr J. McKay (song), Sister Janet (recitation), Miss Audrey Duff (Highland fling), Miss Shirley Cockroft (recitation), Miss Donald (song) and Mr A. Elder (bagpipe selection).
