Rattray and Son, Ltd.,, have received the following report of the tea auction held in Colombo:— Heavy supplies were offered with quality showing continued improvement. Common teas declined %d to %d per lb; medium and fine types were firm and slightly dearer. MEAT PRODUCTION The official figures of killings for the present season at the Dominion's freezing works from October 1 till August 1, as issued by the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board, show that lamb killings to that date total 11,061,953 carcasses, this being a decrease of 158,433 carcasses compared with the killings to August .2 last season. Wether mutton killings are 757,039 carcasses, and ewe mutton killings 1,961,528 carcasses, compared with 615,727 and 1,563,262 carcasses respectively last season. Frozen beef production was 628,107 quarters compared with 692,495 quarters last season. Porker killings total 196,139 carcasses, a decrease of 23,432 and baconers total 217,996 carcasses, a decrease of 64,995. MINING RETURNS (P.A.) DUNEDIN, August 24. The Gillespie's Beach Company reports a return of 48oz for 140 hours and Okarito a return of 19oz for 63 hours. Associated Gold Dredges (N.Z.) Ltd. had a return for the week ended August 22 of 1770 z.
