AN Important step towards manufacturing selfsufficiency In New Zealand is the development of the Coiled Spring Industry by N. W. Thomas & Co. Ltd. The great progress that has been made in the past eighteen months is the result of & policy of meeting the demand for all types of coiled springs, necessitating the installation of the most modern equipment and, in many cases, the breaking of fresh ground in the manufacture of entirely new types of springs. Today New Zealand is selfsupporting In the supply of Compression, Expansion and Torsion Springs. Samson Springs are used in the Dominion’s factories and machine shops from North Cape to the Bluff and in hundreds of high-quality New Zealand product*. Thus, one manufacturing industry, through its own development, is also playing an important role in the expansion of other industries. Important, too, is the fact that Samson Coiled Springs are widely used In many kinds Made-in-New Zealand war weapons. N. W. “IT HAS NEVER FAILED ME”
“. . . I feel there is nothing to equal Baxters Lung Preserver for coughs and chest colds. For many years I was a member of a Benefit Lodge, but not once did I ask the doctors for medicine for a cold for my family or myself. I had such faith in ‘Baxters.’ It has never failed me.” Another unsolicited testimonial received recently by the makers of Baxters Lung Preserver. The popularity of “Baxters” throughout New Zealand proves the efficacy of this most reliable cough remedy. There is certainly nothing like “Baxters” for getting to the bottom of a cold or a cough and driving it right out. The most persistent cough soon gives up the fight when “Baxters” takes a hand.
Old people welcome the relief “Baxters” brings from asthma and bronchitis, and from troublesome night coughing, while even the smallest child readily takes this palatable soothing compound. “Baxters,” guaranteed pure and harmless, is sold everywhere by all chemists and stores in three handy sizes. Get better, get “Baxters.”—Advt.
CLAIMS FOR NEW AWARD.—A move is being made by the New Zealand Federated Clerical Industrial Association of Workers for a new award for all clerical workers belonging to the association throughout the Dominion. The employers have received notifications of the claims, but so far no application has been made to the Conciliation Commissioner for proceedings. The wages claimed in the proposed new award are considerably higher than those provided for in the present award.
