ACTIVITIES OF Y.M.C.A.
"Beds for 141 soldiers on leave have been provided during the month, and breakfast served to the men,” stated the report presented to the directors of the Y.M.C.A. at the monthly meeting. “In addition, 152 men from the week-end leave trains have had breakfast at the institution. The Y.M.C.A. is most popular and soldiers are to be seen every night making full use of the billiard table, tennis tables and the reading and writing rooms. The new electric hot water service for the showers and for shaving has proved a great improvement. Sunday night free teas are still provided by the churches, the highest attendance for the month being 22 During the month the usual entertainments for the men at the camps of the 20th Independent Company and the Base Training Depot were given. These totalled 12 picture programmes, seven concerts, four games and social evenings and three talks. The buffet service at the camps has been continued by the Ladies’ Auxiliary, whose members give most generously of their time to this good work.”
