COMPULSORY PARADES

WARNING TO GUARDSMEN When asked what effect compulsion was having on attendances at Home Guard parades, Lieutenant-Colonel W. Bell, director of the Home Guard for No. 12 group, stated that although the numbers had increased, the results could not be judged until the end of the present month, when a check up would be made on all parades. Those Guardsmen who had not put in the required number of training hours would get a final notice after which action would be taken in accordance with the regulations. This would apply to all men attested in the Home Guard since its formation unless the unit commander had proof of a man’s discharge or of his transfer to another unit. Any man not clear about the position should get in touch with his unit commander at once, particularly if he had not attended parades for a long period, Lieu-tenant-Colonel Bell added.
