CYCLE STANDS IN CITY

Recently the City Council granted a considerable number of applications for permission to have wooden bicycle stands outside business premises in the city. At a recent meeting of the council it was pointed out that so many of these stands had been installed that parking space for motor-cars had been reduced to a marked degree. An application by the manager of the Commercial Bank of Australia for permission to place a cycle stand in front of the bank premises in Esk street was refused by the council at its meeting last night because of the amount of traffic in the vicinity and the fact that cycle stands are already erected in this locality.
