BOYS GOING INTO CAMP FROM SCHOOL

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, August 17. A survey undertaken by vocational guidance officers throughout the North Island shows that a large number of boys are leaving school and being drafted straight into military camp without taking up any occupation, and many others have been debarred from taking up the careers for which they are best fitted because they are approaching military age. Others, again have been prevented from taking up suitable apprenticeship because of a shortage of materials in the trade or because there are not enough journeymen to allow additional apprentices under awards. The survey is being extended to the South Island.
