CIVIC BAND SOCIETY
The annual meeting of the Civic Band Society last night was attended by about 20 members. Mr C. B. Broad was chairman. The annual report stated that the society began the year with a credit balance of £5 9/1 and at July 31, 1942 the amount standing to the credit of the band was £27/18/2. The committee had kept a close watch on all expenditure, which had been drastically curtailed, and this was reflected in the very satisfactory position. The increase in revenue was due to more engagements with racing clubs and in no small way to the associate members of the society.
The following office-bearers were elected: Patron, the Mayor; president, Mr C. B. Broad; vice-presidents, Messrs J. B. Thomson and W. J. Thomas; conductor, Mr A. R. Wills; deputy-bandmaster, Mr A. M. Wills; drum major, Mr A. L. Parry; secretary, Mr N. D. Cameron; treasurer. Mr A. M. Wills; drill coach, Mr E. Kelly; sergeant, Mr F. Forbes; corporal, Mr A. Siddall; lance-cor-poral. Mr V. Cross; librarian, Mr J. Tait; assistant librarian, Mr Gordon Humphrey; custodian, Mr A. M. Wills; executive committee, executive officers and Messrs B. Boyer, J. Tait and V. Cross; auditor, Mr F. A. Webb; trustees, Messrs N. J. Brokenshire, J. Bassett and J. Pickard; band committee, Messrs B. Boyer. J. Tait and V. Cross.
