BOYS’ AND GIRLS’ CLUBS

Awards won by city children in the competitions conducted by the Southland Boys’ and Girls’ Agricultural Clubs Association were presented at a gathering held in the United Friendly Societies’ Hall yesterday afternoon. Mr A. Thomson presided over a large attendance and addresses were given by the Mayor (Mr A. Wachner), the senior inspector of schools (Mr H. D. Prichard) and the president of the association (Mr J. Carnegy Gardner). The Mayor presented MacKinnon Trust medals to Peggy Ryder for vegetable growing and to Patricia Smith for flower growing. Certificates of completed projects were also prsented.
