Mrs W. E. Hazlett, Filleul street, is visiting Christchurch.
Miss Shirley Bryant, only daughter of Mr and Mrs L. W. Bryant. Biverton, has joined the nursing staff of the Riverton hospital. Misses J. and D. Wilson, South Hillend, have returned home after spending a holiday in Christchurch and Dunedin. Sister Gawn, N.Z.A.N.S., who has been visiting Mrs J. Lythgoe, Ness street, has left for her home in Baiclutha.
Mrs F. E. Holdgate, who has been visiting her mother, Mrs W. Hinchey, Gala stieet, leaves by this morning’s express for TJmaru.
Mrs J. Holloway and Miss M. O’Connor were hostesses at another successful evening held by St. Mary’s Bridge Club in St. Mary’s Hall on Tuesday night when there were 24 tables at play. The prize-winners were: Contract, Miss B. O’Connor; auction, Mrs J. Moylen; 500, Mrs E. Moylen; hidden number, Miss T. Gilbertson.
The monthly meeting of the South Invercargill Women’s Christian Temperance Union was held on Tuesday. Miss M. McCallum presided over a good attendance. After Scripture reading and prayer Mrs Holmes gave a devotional talk. Mrs Dale reported on Miss Andrews’s visit. One new member joined. Mrs Major Brown gave an interesting address on “My Life and Life's Work.”
