GROUP 12A CITIZENS OFFENCE COMMITTEE
A grievance that the equipment asked for had been supplied to battalion headquarters at Clinton and that it was difficult to procure from there was aired by a deputation from Heriot at a meeting of ■ Group 12A Citizens' Offence Committee at Gore last night. The deputation asked if a grant could be made for the use of the four platoons in the Heriot area. During the discussion it was stated that the Heriot people had subscribed substantially to the appeal for funds and members considered that the committee would not be establishing a precedent if a grant were made for the platoons in that area. It was decided that a grant of £75 be made. A sub-committee consisting of Messrs F. Wallis, A. V. Latty, P: R. Mallon and Lieutenant-Colonel E. F. Selby was set up to carry out the work of distribution of the equipment as it became available. It was made clear that this sub-committee would naturally have a strong bias for the districts which had contributed most substantially to the appeal.
