EMERGENCY WATER SUPPLY
Experience in air raids in Britain has shown that a town’s water supply is liable to be put out of action early through damage to the mains, and it has been found necessary, therefore, to provide emergency supplies of water for fire-fighting purposes. In many cases this has been done by installing water tanks in various parts of the town. The question of making similar provision in Invercargill was discussed at a meeting of the central committee of the Invercargill Emergency Precautions Service yesterday, but it was agreed that before any decision was reached the views of a Government expert, who is to visit the city shortly, should be obtained.
