NATIONAL SAVINGS IN SOUTHLAND
GOOD RECORD OF WAIKAKA Six Southland post office centres can claim at least one National Savings account for each person living In the area served. This has been disclosed by an analysis made by the district organizer (Mr W. G. Nield). Waikaka has the highest record with 529 accounts, equal to 166 per cent, of the population and an average investment of £24/1/- for each person in the district. The Invercargill figures show 5752 accounts, equal to 21 per cent, of the population, with an average investment of £8 5/- a head. These figures are considered to be low and an effort will be made to raise the city accounts shortly. A table of the investments In the various centres is as follows:—
