SOUTHLAND MINIATURE RIFLE ASSOCIATION
The annual general meeting of the Southland Miniature Rifle Association was held at the R.S.A. rifle range. The president, Mr D. G. Davies, presided. The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr D. G. Davies; deputy president, Mr R. T. Barnett; secretary and treasurer, Mr D. G. Davies. It was decided that all other official positions remain in abeyance during the present season. The president moved that a letter of thanks and appreciation be sent to Mr A. Pomeroy, the retiring secretary, who is on military duty. He spoke of the excellent work done by Mr Pomeroy, who had been secretary of the association since its inception, and said it was greatly due to his hard work that the association was in the excellent position that it held today.
It was also decided that all the championship cups be returned to the president at the R.S.A.
The president referred to the many former members of rifle clubs throughout Southland who were in the Army, and said that a large number of them were instructors in shooting. He also referred to the help that the town clubs had given to the Home Guard in assisting at the rifle range. He said he would be interested to meet any of the country members when they were in town to discuss matters relating to miniature rifle shooting.
