INSTITUTE OF SECRETARIES.— The Southland chapter of the New Zealand Institute of Secretaries held its annual meeting on Monday night. The following officers were elected: Chairman, Mr W. F. CHIMNEY FIRE.—The Invercargill Fire Brigade received a call at 4.51 p.m. yesterday to a chimney fire at the residence of Mr John Bateman at the corner of King and Sydney streets. No damage was caused, the fire being easily extinguished with a bucket pump.
