SOLDIERS ENTERTAINED.—A social in honour of Signalman G. Ensor, who has returned from Egypt, Signalman C. Bulman and Private W. Raeburn was held at Riverton. The Mayor, Dr N. G. Trotter, conveyed the good wishes of the borough to them. Mr W. Whittingham, of the R.S.A., extended a welcome to the men and Captain W. Raethel, of the Salvation Army, on behalf of the churches expressed good wishes. Mrs H. J. Walden made a presentation to Signalman Ensor on behalf of the Red Cross Society. Signalman Ensor replied for the men and also referred to the attention the Red Cross Society had given him on his journey to Invercargill.
