SAVING OF SEED
Sir, —It is proposed by Mr Alex Gerrard, chairman of the Winton district, that boys’ and girls’ clubs might perform a useful national service by saying seed, especially of carrot, parsnip, and similar roots. To do this, take a carrot from the garden or from the pit, and transplant it to a suitable corner where it can be left till the seed is ready in the autumn. For the Central District clubs it is further proposed that this season children should concentrate on food projects—potatoes, vegetables, or carrot plots. W. J. BENNETT, District Secretary. Winton, August 10, 1942.
