HONORARY MEMBERSHIP EXTENDED
Some men who are in camp but who are able to use their cars when out on leave do not come within the scope of the resolution which grants members of the armed forces honorary membership of the Automobile Association (Southland). This resolution states, in effect, that honorary membership is to be granted to men in the armed forces who are debarred from using their cars by reason of their military service. The matter was referred to at a meeting of the general committee of the association last night. The president, Mr M. M. Macdonald, said that the men concerned were willing to pay a portion of the membership fee, but they felt that in the circumstances they should not have to pay the whole fee. It was decided, however, to grant these men honorary membership, a resolution being passed extending this privilege to all members of the mobilized armed forces doing full-time military service.
