PARCELS FOR PRISONERS OF WAR
(PA.) WELLINGTON, August 8. Any shortages of food parcels in camps for prisoners have been primarily due to dislocation of transport between Lisbon and Marseilles, according to a message from the International Red Cross, Geneva, states the Prisoners of War Inquiry Office, Wellington. This has now been overcome and all camps, hold two weeks’ reserve stocks of food parcels, which the Red Cross is trying to increase progressively. The International Red Cross also cabled that 1800 sets of battledress had been delivered to Oflag VI B since the beginning of May. It arranges for the immediate dispatch from Geneva of battledress, underclothing and boots in bulk to any camp at which the arrival of a batch of new prisoners is reported. Another list of civilian internees at camp Stanley, Hong Kong, has been received by the office in Wellington containing the names of about 2500 men and women. This list is available for inspection in the four main centres. The number of prisoners on the files in Wellington is how 6137 and 14 unofficial.
