NEWS IN BRIEF
NATIONAL SAVINGS.— For the thirtyeighth successive week Invercargill’s quota of £2043 for National Savings was reached last week.
VIVID METEOR.— A brilliant meteor was seen in the southern sky above Invercargill about 9.15 o'clock on Friday night. The trail of light was vivid and a cyclist said he was temporarily dazzled by the light, which shone for three or four seconds as the meteor pursued an arc in a north-easterly direction. The meteor was low in the sky when it vanished.
BEQUEST TO ALLISON HOME— The Public Trustee, as executor of the estate of the late Mr R. G. J. Wilson, has advised Mr C. W. Francis, secretary of the Presbyterian Social Service Association, that a bequest of £5O has been left to the association for the general purposes of the Allison Home for boys.
