Cloudy To Overcast

WELLINGTON, September 29. Following is the special weather forecast for Southland issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington: Light to moderate south-easterly winds predominating. Weather cloudy to overcast, with some drizzle or rain; temperatures cool; seas moderate. Following is the Dominion forecast:— Weather unsettled in western and far southern districts of the South Island, with further rain probable; otherwise mainly fair to cloudy, with scattered drizzle developing later in the western districts of the North Island; temperature becoming slightly milder except in the far south. General Situation.—One depression lies to the south-east of the South Island, while another is located off the New South Wales coast and is increasing in intensity. Pressure high to the northeast and over Tasmania. Winds. —Mainly from between northeast and north-west, but south-easterly in the southern portion of the South Island; force moderate. Seas (New Zealand waters). —Slight to moderate, later rising somewhat. Eastern Tasman.—Light to moderate; east to north winds, slight to moderate seas, wind and sea increasing gradually from the west.
The weather in Invercargill on Saturday was warm and sunny. There was a slight south-easterly breeze. Yesterday was cloudy and overcast with intermittent light showers of rain. The weather at 1 o’clock this morning was cool, calm and overcast. The barometer readings for this morning, Saturday and Friday have been:— This morning (falling) 29.78 in. Saturday 29.93 in. Friday 30.01 in.
