EXPLANATION OF AWARD A letter advising the executive of the Southland and Otago branch of the New Zealand Dairy Workers’ Union of the nature of the alterations to the present award wages under the Cheese Factories’ Labour Legislation Suspension Order was received at a meeting of the executive from the national secretary. It was explained that only the shorter hours period was extended to 52 hours a week. There was a good attendance and Mr J. Allison presided. It was stated that income from subscriptions received since the annual meeting amounted to £37/10/-. Expenditure had amounted to £73, leaving a cash balance of £64.
