BANKING SHARES QUIET
INVERCARGILL STOCK EXCHANGE MARKET REMAINS STEADY FOR INDUSTRIALS There were very few changes on the Invercargill Stock Exchange yesterday morning. Government loans remained very firm. Only a few banking shares were asked for, with prices unchanged, and insurance companies’ shares were quiet. SPECIAL SALE OF STOCK 600 HEAD OF CATTLE YARDED About 600 head of cattle from the back and high country were yarded at a special sale of stock at Lomeville yesterday afternoon. Despite the long trek the cattle, most of which were rounded up on stations in the Lakes District, were in good condition. The demand was fair. The yarding comprised mainly good forward stores. There were also some fat bullocks and about 130 head of young stock. The sale was conducted by Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd. The following sales were made: —

COMPANY NEWS GUARANTEE CORPORATION FINAL DIVIDEND

The directors of the New Zealand Guarantee Corporation have decided to recommend at the annual meeting on October 29, a final dividend of one penny a share less the special national security tax.
