ST. JOHN AMBULANCE FUND
FURTHER DONATIONS TO BE ACCEPTED
The St. John Ambulance and emergency precautions scheme fund will remain open for donations. This decision was made at a meeting of the executive committee of the Invercargill Music Teachers’ Association yesterday morning when satisfaction was expressed at the success of the concert held last week. The proceeds amounted to £6B/15/2. It was stated that that amount would be used to purchase necessary equipment. Mr Charles Martin (president) congratulated the committee on its effort and expressed appreciation of the services given by the music teachers, the combined choir, the Orchestral Society, the performers, the clergy who intimated from the pulpits the objects of the committee, the house staff of the community sing committee and Mr Alex Sutherland, the stage manager and organizer of the concert, and others who had helped to make the concert a success. It was decided that the following members be formed into a trust committee: Messrs C. Martin, A. Wachner, F. E. R. Booth and R. Bleakley. It will be the duty of this committee to see that suitable equipment is purchased and handed over to the St. John Ambulance Association. Further donations will be received by the organizer. A cheque for the sum of £3/3/from the Metropolitan Patriotic Committee has been received by Mr Sutherland as an appreciation of his work during .the crowning ceremony of the Army princess. Mr Sutherland has handed the cheque to the St. John Ambulance and emergency precautions scheme fund.
