Mrs M. M. Macdonald, Kelvin street, left yesterday to spend a few days in Christchurch.
Miss Nona Pinckney, Glenaray, who has been staying with Mrs C. H. Tripp, Timaru, is now visiting Wellington. Mrs T. F. Macdonald and Miss J. Burt, Grey street, returned yesterday after spending a few days in Dunedin. Lady Anderson, Victoria Park, left on Tuesday to spend some weeks in Rotorua. She was joined at Christchurch by her sister, Mrs R. Torrance. Miss Dorothy M. Pennington, of the nursing staff of the Dunedin Hospital, will arrive by this evening’s express to spend her annual leave with her parents, Mr and Mrs H. J. Pennington, Mansfield House, Bowmont street. Mrs C. C. Anderson, Don street, has returned from Dunedin, where she and her sisters were visitors to welcome their mother, Mrs F. E. Shrimpton, on
her return from England. . Mrs Anderson was hostess at a luncheon party at the Savoy in her mother’s honour on Monday. A group of 76 Londoners met at the Dominion Farmers’ Building, Wellington, last week, and it was resolved to form a league to foster friendship among Londoners living in Wellington and to discuss ways and means of helping their follow citizens in London. A provisional committee was formed, Mrs Cresswell being elected chairman. Songs were sung and two minutes spent in silent sympathy with the people of London.
