SITUATION IN INDO-CHINA
FRENCH SUCCESS (Received September 25, 10.25 p.m.) HAIPHONG (Indo-China), Sept. 25. There were some minor exchanges of rifle and machine-gun fire again yesterday afternoon between the French and the Japanese in North IndoChina, otherwise the situation was outwardly quiet. An earlier report stated that the French had recaptured Dongdang. It was reported that they were making a determined stand at Langson. The French artillery was shelling from strong fortifications and was taking heavy toll of the Japanese, whose bodies were piled high along the roads outside Langson. The Japanese have announced the launching of a major attack on September 25, including the bombing of Haiphong.
FINNISH CONCESSION TO GERMANY
TRANSIT OF TROOPS TO NORWAY
(Received September 25, 10.25 pan.) HELSINKI, September 25. It is officially stated that Finland has permitted the transit of German troops and supplies into Norway through Finland, The agreement is similar to the Swedish-German arrangement in July.
