LONDON SPENDS LIVELY NIGHT
BOMBS START FIRES IN FOUR HOSPITALS (United Press Association—Telegraph Copyright) (Received September 25,11.40 p.m.) LONDON, September 25. German air raiders gave London a lively night last night. The great city was their main objective and they dropped high explosive and incendiary bombs at random. Fires were started, but they were soon extinguished. As usual, hospitals were hit and fires were started in four of them. There has been little sign of activity so far this morning.
Country districts of England, Scotland and Wales were bombed. Houses were damaged and there were casualties as the result of an attack on a village in North Wales and in the English countryside there were a few casualties. Bombs were dropped on a town in Scotland, but there were few casualties. Nazi airmen adopted their usual tactics over London. Those who got through the anti-aircraft barrage dropped yellow and blue flares and bombed at random. The blast of one high explosive bomb landing in buildings killed people in a neighbouring block.
