ENJOYABLE CONCERT AT TUATAPERE

£4O FOR LONDON AIR RAID DISTRESS FUND An enjoyable patriotic concert was given at Tuatapere in Lawson’s Hall on Monday night. There was a good attendance and about £4O was raised The money will be given to the London air raid distress fund. The chairman of the Tuatapere District Patriotic Committee (Mr C. F. Bruce), who presided, thanked the performers for the concert. Community singing was led by Mr B. S. Hammonds, with Mr J. N. Armstrong at the piano. All the performers took part in an opening chorus. Miss : Jean Miller’s dancing pupils gave ballet items, and members of the Returned Soldiers’ concert party appeared in the sketches, “Some Qrooks,” “Psychoanalysis,” “News” and “222.” Mrs Hammonds, Miss Dorothy Foothead, Miss Nan Brumby and Mr Rewi Kingsland presented solos. Messrs Kingsland, P. Linton Hodge and A W. Kummert sang solos with a Returned Soldiers’ chorus. Mr C. Paine presented humorous items and Mr W. B. Holding conjuring tricks. Mr J. Gilchrist gave humorous items with his talking doll. A wide variety of produce was auctioned by Mr P. Frampton. A flag collection was taken up during the singing of “There’ll Always Be An England.” A patriotic concert will be given at Waimahaka next Saturday.
