Miss Violet Daniel, Roseview, Riverton, has returned home after spending a few days with Mrs A. S. Young. Miss April Oliver, Gladstone Terrace, is staying with her cousin, Mrs L. W. Matson, Christchurch, before returning to Invercargill. Mrs T. M.' Watson, Merrivale, returned home yesterday after a brief visit to town as the guest of Mrs W. A. Oliver, Gladstone Terrace. Misses Jean McKerchar, Hazel Shaw and Elspeth Macpherson, of Tussock Creek, spent the week-end with Mrs W. Stewart, Hekeia, Longwood Miss lona Fraser, Ermedale, has returned home after spending the weekend as the giiest of Mrs Ryan, Invercargill. Mrs F. O. Mac Gibbon, Forth street, who has been visiting Wellington, travelled by aeroplane to Dunedin and returned to Invercargill by train yesterday. i

WEDDING

MITCHELL—FRAME The wedding was celebrated on Friday, September 20, in the Wyndham Presbyterian Church of Annie Gray, third daughter of Mr and Mrs W. Frame, “Fair View,” Wyndham Ridges, and John Elliot, third son of Mr and Mrs W. D. Mitchell, “Eden Bank,” Tuturau. The Rev. Dr I. W. Fraser performed the ceremony and Mrs D. Macpherson played the organ. The church had been decorated by friends of the bride. During the signing of the register Messrs J. and F. Mitchell sang a duet. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a model gown of cream lace and georgette. Miss Ruby Frame, sister of the bride, was bridesmaid. Her gown of blush pink lace was an early Victorian style and featured a bustle-backed skirt.

Mr Elliot Mitchell (the bridegroom’s cousin) was best man. Messrs G. Mitchell and W. H. Frame were ushers. When leaving the church the bride was presented with two horseshoes from Betty and Joyce Mitchell (the bridegroom’s nieces). The reception was held in the Masonic Hall, where the guests were received by Mrs Frame and Mrs Mitchell. Dr Fraser presided at the breakfast and the usual toast list was honoured. Mr and Mrs W. Frame kept open house during the afternoon and entertained a large number of friends at afternoon tea.

For travelling, the bride wore a model coat in Kent green over a Mexican tan frock which was embroidered in self shadings. Mr and Mrs J. E. Mitchell will live at “Eden Bank,” Tuturau

AIR FORCE QUEEN’S CAMPAIGN

MISS MARY PRATT VISITS QUEENSTOWN

A successful concert, in aid of the funds of the Dunedin Air Force Queen, Miss Mary Pratt, was held in Queenstown. There was a large attendance and the funds should benefit to the extent of over £6O. The arrangements were in the hands of Mr C. M. Inglis and Captain Herbert. Miss Pratt and her party were welcomed on behalf of the district by the Mayor (Dr W. A. Anderson) and Mr D. H. Cockbum, chainnan of the Lakes Zone Patriotic Committee. Miss Pratt’s countesses were Misses Jill Lethbridge (Tarras), Joan Scaife (Wanaka), Betty Thomas (Palmerston), Alwyn Nichol! (Waikouaiti), Mary Bennetts (Roxburgh) and Joyce Howell (Middlemarch). Miss Pratt was warmly received for her singing of ‘England, Our Island Home,” “There’ll Always Be An England” and '‘Bonny Banks of Loch Lomond.” Other items given by the party were a recitation by Miss Nicholl and songs by Miss D. Sligo (Dunedin)., Local performers also contributed to the programme. Songs were sung by Messrs J. Macdonald, and W. E. Scott, a violin solo was given by Mr J. Goomes, and novelty numbers by girls of St. Joseph’s. Mr A. C. Cameron, of the Otago Co-ordinating Committee, gave an outline of the aims and objects of the raising of rehabilitation funds. During the second half of the programme a flag collection was taken up, £lO/10/- being collected. On Saturday afternoon members of the party were the guests of the Arrowtown Women’s Committee and the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union. The Mayor and Mayoress, Mr and Mrs W. H. James, extended a welcome, Mr' Cockbum also speaking. Misses Pratt and Sligo sang several numbers.

On Monday Miss Pratt and her party were the guests of the residents of Glenorchy, a big number being present to welcome them. Mr D. Knowles spoke on behalf of the Glenorchy people, and Dr Anderson also spoke. Miss Pratt and Miss Sligo sang several numbers and Miss Nicholl recited. Afternoon tea was then served, during which Mr Bryant, of Kinloch, thanked Miss Pratt and her party for the visit.
