Mainly Fair And Mild

WELLINGTON, September 24. Following is the special weather forecast for Southland issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington:— Moderate winds from a westerly
quarter with a few coastal showers but the weather mainly fair and mild.
Seas moderate. Following is the Dominion forecast:— Weather for the most part fair and milder with a few scattered showers, however, in the western and far southern portions of the South Island and unsettled conditions with drizzle developing later from about Taranaki
and northwards. General Situation.—One anti-cyclone lies over and to the east of the North Island while another is centred over New South Wales. A weak depression is located in the north Tasman Sea.
Winds—Mainly light or ■moderate in force and rather variable in direction. Westerlies to north-westerlies predominating at first but gradually tending north-easterly in the North Island. The weather in Invercargill yesterday was fine but cold and windy. A westerly wind blew steadily throughout the day. The weather at 1 o’clock this morning was clear, cool and calm.
