GOLF CLUB YEAR ENDS PRESENTATION OF TROPHIES
The closing day of the Tuatapere Golf Club was marred by inclement weather, but 42 members gathered in the clubhouse for the presentation of the trophies won during the season. The following were the winners of the various competitions:—Club champion (men): W. G. Austin; club champion (women): Miss W. Hannan; B. grade (men): Dr E. M. Elder; B grade (women): Mrs W. Henderson; Scott Cup: J. J. Lawson. Mr Brent Gow’s trophy for first year player showing greatest reduction in handicap: Mrs R. Walker.
Tlie women’s weekly match was won by Mrs W. R. Langmuir, who received Mrs C. F. Bruce’s trophy. The winner of Mr McClymont’s trophy for putting was Mrs R. Walker. The special prize for the medal round was won by Mrs S. King. The results of the men’s matches were: —

SOCIAL EVENING An enjoyable evening was held at the residence of Mr and Mrs Walter Cook, Papatotara, when the employees of Birch and Co.’s saw mill and district residents gathered to bid farewell to Messrs I. Buchanan and W. Rodgers, who are shortly leaving for camp. The evening was spent in community singing, dancing and vocal items. Mesdames W. Harper and E. A. Brown were accompanists and for the dance music was supplied by Messrs R. Leonard, A. Cloughley, I. Buchanan and W. Leonard (Roslyn Bush), while vocal items were contributed by Messrs J. Duff, I. Buchanan and W. Cook.
A lucky spot waltz was won by Mrs R. Horrell and Mr A. Johnston. Mr A. Johnston presided, and wished them every safety. He asked Mr W. Cook to make a small presentation to each. Mr Cook paid tribute to their long association with the mill and in presenting them with a fountain pen and a sum of money, wished them a safe and speedy return. Mr H. Phillips also spoke on behalf of those present. Messrs Buchanan and Rodgers replied.
