MAIL BOXES ON TRAM ROUTES
SUGGESTION TO BE CONSIDERED DIRECTOR-GENERAL INTERVIEWED (Special to The Times) WELLINGTON, September 19. Because of the fact that the Post-master-General (the Hon. P. C. Webb) is at present out of Wellington, Mr W. Grieve, who was to have placed before Mr Webb on behalf of commercial interests in Invercargill the case for improved night mail clearances, approached the Director-General of the Post and Telegraph Department (Mr J. G. Young) on the subject once again. The Director-General indicated that he was prepared to give consideration to the question of placing clearing boxes on tram routes instead of on trams, but he said that he could not seq his way clear to grant any _concessions in other directioris. He pointed out to Mr Grieve that other centres were in the same position as Invercargill, but he hinted that if there were any relaxation of the petrol restrictions some relief might then be possible..
