BALFOUR
PATRIOTIC WORK PROCEEDS FROM VARIOUS FUNCTIONS The efforts of the Balfour Patriotic Committee have, been most successful since its inception a few months ago. Several successful functions have been arranged by the committee and have proved most enjoyable. The two community sing evenings were the principal sources of revenue. The committee is headed by Mr A. Orr, chairman, and Mr L. J. Sparks, is secretary. The following are details of proceeds from various functions held during the past four months: Community, sing, £174/6/5; July card evening, £l/1/0; music recital, £l7yil/6; August card evening, £5/5/6; community sing, £299 4/7; young people’s dance, £B/16/6; donation Balfour Football Club, £ll. The total proceeds are £517/5/6. This amount is exclusive of the sum collected during the district canvass.
