WINTON WOMEN’S CLUB

SEALED HOLE MATCHES TO BE PLAYED TODAY

Sealed hole matches will be played by the women on the Winton golf links today, the draw being as follows:— First division. —Miss June Hornet' v. Mrs R. King, Miss I. Shand v. Mrs W. Brandford, Mrs C. M. Lindsay v. Miss G. Horner, Mrs O. Smith v. Miss I. Mclndoe.

Second division.—Mrs M. Kean v. Mrs J. de la Perrelle, Miss E. Norman v. Mrs J. T. Shaw, Miss J. Horner v. Miss J. Brumby, Miss S. Norman v. Mrs H. J. Lilico. In the final of the women’s senior championship Miss I. Shand defeated Miss June Horner. The game was full of interest throughout and a keen struggle resulted. The final of the women’s junior championship between Miss S. Norman and Mrs M. Kean was fought out on the last green, Miss Norman winning. ■The Avon trophy competition has reached the semi-final stage, Miss I. Shand defeating Mrs O. Smith. Mrs R. King and Miss June Homer have yet to play.

Gifford 100, Miss P. Sweetman 104, Mrs W. Dick 106, Mrs R. Field 106, Mrs R. G. Scandrett 106, Mrs P. Littlejohn 108, Mrs W. Gregory 109. Mrs Hughes, with 94-21-73, had the best Scott Cup round. Conditions were perfect last Saturday when the Wyndham Golf Club’s last stroke match of the season was played. The greens and fairways were in good order. P. B. Barnett had an excellent round of 72 and won by two strokes from L. Harper, who had a fine round of 79. The best scores were:— Barnett, 72-4-68; Harper, 79-9-70; Pankhurst, 79-8-71; Shepherd, 94-22-72; Holmes, 79-6-73; Heath, 85-10-75.

The semi-finals of the club cham.pionships have been played and resulted as follows:— A Grade.—Barnett defeated Davey, 6 and 5; Pankhurst defeated Crawford, 1 up. i Plate.—Harper defeated F. Milne, 6 and 5; Henderson defeated Irvine, 4 and 3.

B Grade.—Shepherd defeated Mitchell, 3 and 2; Tangney defeated Heath, 1 up. Barnett’s handicap has been reduced from 4 to 3 and Rout’s from 9 to 8.
