PRISONER OF WAR
NEW ZEALAND AIRMAN Reported missing as a result of air operations on September 2, Pilot Officer lan C. Kirk, eldest son of the late Mr J. Kirk and Mrs Kirk, of Papatoetoe, has now been reported a prisoner of war. Pilot Officer Kirk, who is 26 years of age, was educated at the Mount Albert Primary School and the Auckland Grammar School. He joined the Royal Air Force in June last year, being granted a short-service commission, and was attached to a bomber squadron. In the early months of the war he took part in several leaflet raids over Berlin.
Pilot Officer Trevor Harold Hadley, who was reported missing as a result of Royal Air Force operations, is a son of Mr and Mrs A. H. Hadley, of Thames. Bom at Masterton, Pilot Officer Hadley was 22 the day he was posted missing. He was married in Christchurch in March shortly before leaving for England. Pilot Officer Hadley enlisted at Thames and was trained at Wigram. A brother, Ronald Arnold Hadley, is a pilot in the same squadron.
