EXCELSIOR TENNIS CLUB SATISFACTORY CREDIT BALANCE SHOWN There was a fair attendance at the annual meeting of the Excelsior Tennis Club. The annual report stated that two teams were entered in the Waiau Association’s competitions for the first round but one team had to be withdrawn in the second round. The usual club competitions for the Austin and McClymont Cups were not held owing to unsuitable weather but it was suggested that this season they be held earlier.

Sympathy was extended to Mrs T. J. Henderson," a vice-president, in her bereavement.

The balance-sheet showed that the sum of £l4 was spent on improvements and fixtures and there was still a satisfactory credit balance. The elction of officers for the current season was held over. It was decided to open the season on Saturday, September 21, with a doubles tournament and an invitation is to be extended to other clubs. EUCHRE EVENING Miss B. McLeod was hostess at a euchre evening held in McLeod’s rooms. There was a good attendance and the sum of £2/6/- was donated to the local Patriotic Committee towards Christmas parcels for the soldiers. The winners of the euchre were Mrs W. Walker and Mr J. Mangan. Consolation prizes were awarded to Mrs J. Mclntyre and Mr E. M. Mackay. Mr B. Brookes was supervisor of the tournament.
