NORTH INVERCARGILL PRESBYTERIANS
REVIEW OF YEAR’S WORK
The moderator, the Rev. Hugh Graham, presided over a good attendance of the congregation of the North Invercargill Presbyterian Church when reports of the year’s work' were presented. During the period under review substantial progress had been made, it was stated. The session clerk, Mr C. W. Frahcis, reported on the increased membership, the roll having more than 100 new names added. The attendances at quarterly communions and at public worship had been well above the average.
Mr T. Wilson, in presenting the report of the Deacons’ Court, referred to the installation of a new organ, and the treasurer, Mr J. Millar, reported that the missions quota had been exceeded and that the general account was in credit.
Mb J. Holland moved a vote of thanks to the minister and Mrs .Graham for their diligence and co-operation and congratulated them on the splendid work that had been accomplished. In replying, the chairman referred to the war situation and expressed the hope that peace would soon be restored. During the evening musical items were given by Miss Grace Hunter, Mr J. McKay and a male quartet from the choir. A feature of the programme was a humorous playette entitled “The Spinisters of Lushe.” The play was staged under the direction of Miss Mary Thomson, and the cast was as follows: Misses Joyce and Phyllis Pullar, Marjorie Grieve, Joyce Mortimer. Nan Clarke and Jessie Murray.
