CHANGES MADE IN KEY POSITIONS
AUCKLAND CARPENTERS ELECT OFFICERS (United Press Association) AUCKLAND, September 11. A total of 600 attended the annual meeting of the Auckland Carpenters’ and Joiners’ Union in the Trades Hall last night. The president Mr J. McCormack, was in the chair. Proceedings were orderly, with keen discussions on contentious matters.
Principal interest centred in the election of officers in key positions. Several changes were made for these. Voting, was by postal ballot and the results were not known until early this morning, when checking was finished after a continuous session.
The vote for president was taken in the hall. Mr McCormack was re-elect-ed, scoring 243 votes to the 225 recorded for Mr T. Kelly, who was president several years ago. Postal ballots resulted in a change in the secretaryship, Mr C. Moore defeating the retiring secretary, Mi- J. G. Kennerley by 336 votes to 279. There were ..seven nominations for two executive vacancies. Mr A. Greig was re-elected. Mr W. H. Trembath did not stand again and was replaced by Mr T. P. O’Connor.
For the position of town organizer, Mr R. Stanley was elected, defeating the temporary organizer, Mr R. Giles, by 427 votes to 201. Mr E. A. Waters was elected country organizer almost unanimously.
