MINERS RETURN TO HOMES
DISPUTE REVIVED AT MACDONALD MINE (United Press Association) AUCKLAND, September 11. The dispute which opened at the MacDonald coalmine on Tuesday of last week, when 20(1 miners decided not to work until one man’s’ claim for wettime payment had been determined, was revived this morning, when after working for an hour the men returned to their homes. No work will be done at the mine tomorrow. Last week the men were idle on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday., They worked on Friday and again on Monday and Tuesday of this week. It is understood that the men held a meeting to receive a report from the disputes committee this morning, and subsequently left the mine after working only an hour. The Northern- Miners’ Union executive held, a meeting tonight to discuss the situation, but it was announced that no finality had been reached. A further meeting with the men will take place at the MacDonald mine tomorrow afternoon.
