Among those present were members 1 of the Invercargill executive, Dr Owen Johnston (president), Messrs Linton Hodge (vice-president), J. Filippini (secretary), and H. Crawford. Dr Owen Johnston addressed the members, giving an outline of some of the problems the Invercargill Returned Soldiers’ Association was confronted with. , , , Mr Filippini dealt fully with the land question as it affected returned soldiers. Mr Hodge spoke about the finances of the Invercargill Returned Soldiers’ Association and pointed out that if the sub-branches were to get more service something more would have to be done to increase the finances so as to give assistance to the secretary. An interesting discussion followed, but no finality was reached, the question being held over till other subbranches had been interviewed. At a social hour the toast of the Invercargill visitors was proposed by Mr W. Findlay and replied to by Mr Crawford. Messrs T 4 Ward, A. J. Robertson and H.
